The kinetics of dissociation and isomerisation of hexafluoro-1,2-bistrifluoromethylcyclobutane

Abstract

The thermal reactions of cis- and trans-hexafluoro-1,2-bistrifluoromethylcyclobutane have been studied at 410–500° and 25–125 mm. pressure. Dissociation to perfluoropropene and isomerization take place at similar rates. The rates of reactions can be expressed by the following equations: cis-1,2-(CF3)2C4F6 2C3F6, k= 1·18 × 1015 exp(–64,200/RT) sec.–1., trans-1,2-(CF3)2C4F6 2C3F6, k= 4·30 × 1015 exp(–64,200/RT) sec.–1., cis-1,2-(CF3)2C4F6trans-1,2-(CF3)2C4F6, k= 2·31 × 1015 exp(–64,200 RT) sec.–1., trans-1,2-(CF3)2C4F6cis-1,2-(CF3)2C4F6, k= 5·84 × 1015 exp(–64,200/RT) sec.–1.
