Trichlorotrifluoroplatinates(IV)

Abstract

Trichlorotrifluoroplatinates(IV) of potassium, rubidium, and cæsium have been prepared by the action of bromine trifluoride on hexachloroplatinates(IV) at 20°. The nitrosonium salt cannot be isolated and nitrosonium hexachloroplatinate(IV) is completely fluorinated to nitrosonium hexafluoroplatinate(IV) by boiling bromine trifluoride. Other halogenofluoroplatinates(IV) could not be isolated. Physical properties are reported for all new compounds and cell constants are reported for the hexaiodoplatinates(IV).
