Organosilicon chemistry. Part I. A pentaco-ordinate complex of silicon

Abstract

The stable liquid 1:1 complex formed between 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethylsilane and trimethylamine is the first of a new type of pentaco-ordinate silicon compound. Nuclear magnetic resonance and infrared spectroscopic data support this conclusion. Thermodynamic data are reported for the complex.
