The isotopic exchange of hydrogen in free alkyl radicals

Abstract

The reaction of methyl and ethyl radicals, produced by several methods, with deuterium has been investigated and, contrary to other reports, no isotopic exchange was observed. A mechanism to account for the isotopic exchange noticed by Lavrovskaia et al. has been suggested.
