A bipositive carbonyl complex of manganese(II): dicarbonylbis(1,2-bisdiphenylphosphinoethane)manganese(II) diperchlorate

Abstract

Oxidation of the manganese(I) complex [Mn(CO)2(diphos)2]Cl (diphos = 1,2-bisdiphenylphosphinoethane), with a range of oxidising agents leads to derivatives containing the dipositive cation [Mn(CO)2(diphos)2]2+, which is most conveniently isolated as the diperchlorate. Infrared spectra suggest that the two carbonyl groups of the cation are in trans positions and magnetic data are consistent with a low-spin d5 configuration.
