Chromium(II) chemistry. Part II. Chromofluorides

Abstract

Unlike the corresponding copper compound, the chromium(II) double fluoride KCrF3 is not antiferromagnetic. It is a high-spin compound, and obeys the Curie law in the temperature range 80–350°K. The compound Na2CrF4 has similar magnetic properties, but there are weak magnetic interactions in the compound NH4CrF3. The reflectance spectra provide evidence for the considerable tetragonal distortion known from other work to occur in KCrF3.
