Synthetic utility of µ-butenolide-cobalt complexes: new pathways for carbon–carbon bond formation under unusually mild conditions

Abstract

Treatment of the easily accessible (µ-butenolide)(µ-CO)Co2(CO)6 complexes with prop-2-ynylamines yields the new γ-substituted-α,β-unsaturated-γ-lactones and the known 2,4,6-octatriene-4,5-diolide isomers under atmospheric pressure in good yields.
