About this collection

We are delighted to present our themed issue celebrating the anniversary of supramolecular chemistry, guest edited by Professors David B Amabilino (University of Nottingham) and Philip A Gale (University of Sydney). This special issue of Chemical Society Reviews marks the anniversary of Charles Pedersen’s landmark work on crown ethers in 1967 and celebrates the fifty years of supramolecular chemistry that followed, as well as the 30th anniversary of the 1987 Nobel Prize in Chemistry recognising the areas of crown ether, host-guest and molecular recognition chemistries. This issue is distinctive because many of the reviews have been co-authored by leading groups in the field, creating a series of collaborative reviews that provide definitive coverage of contemporary supramolecular chemistry. New articles will be added to this collection as they are published.
