Recent advances in the transition metal catalyzed synthesis of quinoxalines: a review

Abstract

Quinoxalines are a class of N-heterocycles which are present in a variety of natural and synthetic compounds. They act as a versatile building block in synthesizing novel heterocyclic scaffolds and are important intermediates in many bioactive compounds. They have achieved immense significance in organic as well as medicinal chemistry. Several synthetic approaches have been developed to afford a variety of quinoxaline derivatives. In this review, we have summarized the recent progress in the transition metal-catalyzed synthesis of quinoxalines.
