An unprecedented copper-promoted radical-mediated alkenyl C(sp2)–H carbonylation of alkenes with polyhaloalkanes for divergently producing α,β-unsaturated esters and aldehydes is presented.
Earth-abundant iron and gem-dihaloalkanes enable radical-mediated 1,2-acyl migration and cyclopropanation in a tunable manner in linear α,β-unsaturated carbonyls, unlocking sustainable skeletal remodeling.
A photocatalyst-free, simple and green method for visible light driven photocatalytic synthesis of gem-dihaloenones from alkynes, tetrahalomethanes and water has been developed.
We present an approach involving Fe-catalyzed B–H and Si–H insertion of gem-dichloroalkanes. In contrast to previous strategies, our method uses gem-dihaloalkanes as non-stabilized carbene precursors and operates through a radical reaction pathway.
A titanium-catalyzed reductive cyclization of vinyl boronates with gem-dihaloalkanes is developed. α-Substituted cyclic boronates that are otherwise difficult to access, such as those with heteroatom-containing rings, are readily obtained.
