A practical synthesis of 3,4-diamino-6-azido-1H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridin-5-ium energetic ionic compounds

Abstract

Energetic ionic compounds have attracted substantial research interest over the past decade due to their relatively low sensitivities compared to the corresponding covalent compounds. However, by far, the synthesis of energetic ionic molecules is mostly limited to the designing of anionic moieties. Herein, we report a practical synthesis of 3,4-diamino-6-azido-1H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridin-5-ium energetic ionic compounds which show good detonation performances and low sensitivities. This synthetic strategy could be employed for the synthesis of fused pyridinyl azides, which highlights its importance in the field of heterocyclic chemistry.
