Recent Advances in the Total Synthesis of Polycyclic Phloroglucinol Natural Products

Abstract

Total synthesis of polycyclic phloroglucinol natural products has attracted significant attention from the chemistry community in recent years, owing to their challenging structural frameworks and wide range of bioactive activities. The synthesis of polycyclic phloroglucinol natural products presents considerable challenges, requiring the development of innovative strategies. Recently, a range of elegant synthetic approaches have been devised to access these polycyclic phloroglucinol natural products, including Diels–Alder cycloaddition, cascade reaction, metal catalysis and advanced methodologies. In this review, we provide a brief summary of the recent advancements in synthetic strategies targeting polycyclic phloroglucinol natural products, as well as their isolation and biological activities.
