An AIE-active platinum complex for enhanced photodynamic therapy
Abstract
Conventional photodynamic therapy (PDT) suffers from aggregation-caused quenching and high oxygen dependence. Herein, we report a platinum (Pt)-coordinated photosensitizer (TPAQPt) for hypoxia-tolerant PDT. Inheriting aggregation-induced emission (AIE) features, high spin orbital coupling and intramolecular charge transfer ability, TPAQPt exhibits robust type I reactive oxygen species generation and a promising antitumor PDT effect.
