Aldehydes rather than alcohols in oxygenated products from light-driven Fischer–Tropsch synthesis over Ru/SiC catalysts†
Abstract
Fischer–Tropsch synthesis can convert syngas into a mixture of alkanes, olefins, and oxygenated compounds consisting of alcohols. Herein, we report that the oxygenated compounds obtained from Ru/SiC catalysts are aldehydes rather than alcohols. Further studies reveal that CO in the syngas has a strong inhibition effect on the conversion of aldehydes to alcohols through hydrogenation.
