Exploring the synthetic application of sulfinyl radicals

Abstract

Sulfinyl radicals are typical sulfur-centered π-radicals that have been known since 1957, but their use in synthetic chemistry has been limited thus far. The majority of significant progress in this field has occurred in the last two decades. As a result, summarizing the properties and applications of sulfinyl radicals is in high demand, because it will assist chemists in better understanding and applying π-type radicals. In this review, we summarized the potential applications of sulfinyl radicals in organic chemistry and thoroughly examined the challenges and future development trends of sulfinyl radicals in modern organic chemistry, as well as their structures and properties.
