Latent catalysts in vitrimers

Abstract

A broad range of methodologies for latent polymerization processes are elucidated in polymer chemistry. In the realm of vitrimer chemistry, however, this field is still emerging. This mini-review focuses on the emerging latent catalysts in vitrimers as a means to underscore recent developments in the science of vitrimers. Particular attention is directed towards the external stimuli, such as light and heat, that can be utilized to attain true latency. Consequently, this mini-review will provide an overview and blueprint for a novel path for the advancement of vitrimer materials that can effectively integrate the advantages of thermoplastic and thermoset properties.
