A wide-bandgap copolymer donor based on a phenanthridin-6(5H)-one unit

Abstract

A wide-bandgap copolymer donor PPN4T-2F based on a phenanthridin-6(5H)-one unit was developed. PPN4T-2F has a large optical bandgap of 2.15 eV and a deep highest occupied molecular orbital level of −5.43 eV. Solar cells based on PPN4T-2F and a nonfullerene acceptor, IT-4F, afforded a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 8.54%. PPN4T-2F is comparable to the efficient ultra-wide-bandgap copolymer donors.
