Metal halide perovskites as an emergent catalyst for CO2 photoreduction: a minireview

Abstract

Nowadays, the CO2 conversion process is one of the most important technologies that must be promoted quickly. CO2 photoreduction is, in the long term, a promising route to successfully reduce the CO2 concentration. Searching for new strategies and efficient materials to enhance CO2 photoreduction does not stop. Thus, metal halide perovskite materials have emerged as one of the leading candidates to achieve this goal due to their exceptional optoelectronic properties. This minireview presents an overview of recent advances in CO2 photoreduction using metal halide perovskites to support and encourage future research in this area. The focus is on improving some optoelectronic properties to enhance photocatalytic activity through heterojunction formation and the use of co-catalysts.
