Organic electronics is a fascinating field of study where conjugated materials can be configured at the molecular scale to tailor properties for use in a myriad of advanced applications. High performance, next-generation organic electronic devices are delivered via synergy between synthetic and physical chemists, physicists, engineers, and printers amongst others. As society enters a new era dominated by electronic communication, diversification of energy supply, and a changing environment, we must be conscious of how these new devices are manufactured, materials sourced, and their end-of-life, to ensure both a low negative environmental footprint and accessibility to all.

This themed collection covers applications in rechargeable batteries, flexible capacitors, organic solar cells, field-effect transistors, light emitting transistors, hydrogels, the utility of vat dyes and naturally sourced organic building blocks, new peptide based organic materials, advanced polymerization methods and organic film formation from supercritical fluids. Contributions are from researchers across the world including Canada, China, Korea, India, Italy, France, Germany, Romania, Tunisia, Scotland, Spain, and the United States.

We thank all our colleagues from around the world for contributing to this themed collection and hope that you, the reader, will enjoy the research results presented.
