Enzyme immobilization on a 3D-printed reactor for aldehyde oxidation to carboxylic acid under mild conditions

Abstract

An aldehyde dehydrogenase from Geotrichum candidum catalyzing aldehyde oxidation was immobilized on the functionalized surface of a 3D-printed polypropylene reactor. The immobilization improved its thermostability. Furthermore, the immobilized enzyme could be recycled without significant activity loss, while it retained the broad substrate specificity of the free form.
