A review of the incorporation of QDs and imprinting technology in optical sensors – imprinting methods and sensing responses

Abstract

This review aims to cover the simultaneous method using molecularly imprinted technology and quantum dots (QDs) as well as its application in the field of optical sensors. In the beginning, the principles and various types of chemical and biochemical sensors are introduced, and then several reported optical sensors are explained in more detail. Then, quantum dots are introduced, as one of the most attractive materials for the fabrication of optical sensors. After that, molecular imprinting technology and its different synthesis methods are described. Various imprinting methods, which have been reported in the literature to address the challenges, are presented in a principled and practical manner. Ultimately, unresolved challenges, as well as the prospect of this approach, will be expressed.
