Supported metals on porous solids as heterogeneous catalysts for the synthesis of propargylamines

Abstract

Propargylamines are one of the aza-compounds very often observed in many drug molecules. Hence, considerable efforts have been made to obtain these target molecules in very high yields and selectivity. To achieve these goals, a series of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts has been developed. In the present review, we wish to report the synthesis of propargylamines using heterogeneous porous solids. After a brief introduction on the importance of these target compounds, the available literature data for the synthesis of propargylamines using heterogeneous solids are classified based on the nature of metal and nature of the support. Furthermore, this review also highlights the importance of developing heterogeneous catalysts for the synthesis of these products with respect to homogeneous catalysts. In addition, it is also discussed that the active sites in porous solid catalysts can be easily tuned to achieve high activity without losing their stability. Finally, our views for further progress of this field are also discussed.
