Anthroxyl-based biradical: toward the construction of highly stable multi-spin systems

Abstract

A new two-spin system having two anthroxyl radicals at the 9,10-positions of anthracene was found to be stable even after exposing it to refluxing polar-protic solvents. This stability might be derived from the spin delocalization as well as the steric protection of the spin center by the orthogonally oriented anthracene.
