Four dysprosium-based complexes with a multidentate ligand with steric constraint were constructed. Their structures and magnetic properties were studied.
Four cyano-bridged {DyIIIMIV} complexes 1–4, with various structures and magnetic behaviors, were obtained by adjusting the pyridyl N-sites of the pentadentate Schiff-base ligands.
A novel Ni4Dy4 complex constructed using two kinds of organic ligands has been obtained. The complex and its diluted compound both exhibit single molecule magnet behavior under a zero dc field.
Two series of dinuclear NiII–LnIII (Ln = Tb, Dy, Ho) complexes were synthesized. Ni–Dy analogues show zero-field slow magnetic relaxation, supported by CASSCF and DFT studies.
Chains and linear trinuclear Ln–radical complexes have been obtained using nitronyl nitroxide with chelating and bridging functions, and the Dy derivative exhibits magnetic relaxation behavior.
