Application of a differential technique in laser-induced fluorimetry/pulsed LED-fluorimetry: simple and reliable analysis of uranium raw materials in the nuclear fuel cycle – a mini-review

Application of differential technique is based on the comparison of the fluorescence of the standard with a sample of similar but unknown concentration on the same sample weight basis, by the use of H3PO4–NH4H2PO4 as a fluorescence-enhancing reagent.

Anaerobic biodegradation of citric acid in the presence of Ni and U at alkaline pH; impact on metal fate and speciation

Biodegradation of citrate occurred under LLW repository relevant conditions with Ni and U present. Citrate biodegradation led to the formation of insoluble Ni sulfides or nanocrystalline U(IV)–phosphate and may promote Ni/U retention in LLW repositories.

Occupational exposure monitoring for radon in various manufacturing workplaces and underground public-use facilities in Korea

We characterized radon exposure levels at the workplaces and underground public-use facilities using short/long-term, and real-time detectors. The mean radon level in the underground facilities was observed 1.8-fold higher than that at workplaces.

The simultaneous monitoring of the triple stable S-isotopes (32S, 33S and 34S) of hydrogen sulfide has been conducted with a VCOF-CRDS set-up (a V-shaped cavity for optical feedback coupled to a cavity ring down spectrometer).

The application of food/agro-waste and spent household products for the environmentally benign separation of thorium

The cost-effective and environmentally benign separation of thorium from an aqueous acidic medium using spent food/agro-byproducts was studied. The processes followed the Langmuir isotherm model kinetics; were entropic and endothermic nature.

Ultra-fast 137Cs sequestration via a layered inorganic indium thioantimonate

The ultra-fast and selective elimination of 137Cs from complex aqueous solutions is achieved through the ion exchange method by employing layered K2In2Sb2S7·2.2H2O obtained from cation activation of [(CH3)2NH2]2In2Sb2S7.
