Advances in ultrasound-assisted photocatalyst synthesis and piezo-photocatalysts

Abstract

Advances in ultrasound-assisted photocatalyst synthesis and piezo-photocatalysis have shown great potential in enhancing the efficiency of photocatalytic reactions. This minireview provides a comprehensive overview of these innovative techniques, which leverage the unique properties of ultrasound waves and light activation to enhance photocatalysis. The underlying principles and mechanisms are discussed, alongside their diverse applications such as water splitting, CO2 conversion, water purification, and volatile organic compound (VOC) removal. The advantages of ultrasound assistance, including shortened reaction times, enhanced product yield, and attainment of uniform photocatalytic material morphology, are highlighted. By shedding light on the substantial contributions of ultrasound-assisted photocatalyst synthesis and piezo-photocatalysis, this minireview serves to advance the realms of sustainable and efficient chemical processes.
