Principles, properties, and sensing applications of mechanoluminescence materials
Abstract
Mechanoluminescence (ML) materials have been widely used in the fields of luminescence anti-counterfeiting, structural health monitoring, stress sensing, medical health, illumination, artificial intelligence skin and other fields due to their high repeatability, ability to visually respond to mechanical parameters, and fast response time, and have been a hot research topic for researchers in recent years. In this paper, the principles, performance improvement and sensor applications of ML materials were reviewed. The principles of ML mainly included trap-controlled ML, piezoelectric-induced ML, triboelectricity-induced ML, and molecular stacking ML. The performance improvement of ML materials was discussed mainly from the perspective of ultrasonic induction, persistence, color regulation, improved sensitivity, luminescence intensity, self-recovery, near-infrared ML, etc. Finally, the application prospects and main challenges of ML materials are discussed.
