Molecular motion in organometallic crystals: photoinduced 2π/5 rotation of n-hexyltetramethylcyclopentadienyl ligand†
Abstract
Crystalline-state photoreaction of a newly prepared organorhodium dithionite complex with n-hexyltetramethyl-cyclopentadienyl (CpHex: η5-C5Me4n-Hexyl) ligands was studied by single crystal X-ray diffraction experiments; 2π/5 rotation of the CpHex ligand is induced by the photoisomerization of the dithionite group (μ-O2SSO2).
