Organophotocatalytic acyltrifluoromethylation of unactivated alkenes enabled the efficient synthesis of CF3-substituted chroman-4-ones

Abstract

Herein, a novel and practical strategy for the synthesis of CF3-modified chroman-4-ones was reported via organophotocatalytic acyltrifluoromethylation of unactivated alkenes. This method offers mild conditions, a wide range of substrates and compatibility with different functional groups. Preliminary mechanistic studies revealed that this catalytic system may involve an oxidative quenching process.
