Construction of a phosphane-based metallo-synthon suitable for the selective formation of a tetranuclear Ru2–Cu2 macrocycle

Abstract

Metallo-synthon 5, comprising two hybrid bipyridine-phosphane ligands in a frans-arrangement, undergoes self-assembly in the presence of copper(I) affording a 36-membered metallocycle containing two ruthenium and two copper atoms.
