Fe2O3-based photocatalysis is one of the most promising technologies for the removal of pollutants in water. In this paper, the properties of Fe2O3 photocatalysts are reviewed, and the photocatalytic mechanism is explained. Modification methods such as morphology control and doping can significantly improve the catalytic efficiency of pollutant removal by improving the specific surface area and electron transfer performance. The research progress and light stability of Fe2O3 photocatalysts for removal of pollutants in water were reviewed. In addition, the research opportunities and future directions of Fe2O3-based photocatalysts in wastewater treatment are summarized.
