Electric-field-promoted assembly of asymmetric junctions for single-molecule rectifiers

Abstract

Electric-field-directed self-assembly enables unidirectional monolayer junction formation on a gold substrate via terminal asymmetric Au–S and Au–C contacts, yielding stable rectifiers with defined polarity and diode IV characteristics. This strategy defines a programmable method enabling the realization of uniform molecular-scale electronic devices through self-assembly.
