Synthesis and structure of a P-metallated phospha-alkene, [Os(P[double bond, length half m-dash]C[O]CF3)(CO)2(PPh3)2]

Abstract

The terminal PH2-complex, [Os(PH2)Cl(CO)2(PPh3)2], when treated with (CF2CO)2O gives [Os{PH(C[O]CF3)}Cl(CO)2-(PPh3)2] and this compound in dehydrochlorinated by NaH in tetrahydrofuran yielding the putative phosphinidene species, [Os([double bond, length half m-dash]PC[O]CF3)(CO)2(PPh3)2] which ring-closes to the title compound the solid-state structure of which is proved by X-ray crystallography.
