What's new in PEDOT:PSS thermoelectrics?

Abstract

PEDOT, especially in its doped form like PEDOT:PSS (poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrene sulfonate), is highly valuable for thermoelectric applications due to its exceptional properties, including high electrical conductivity, low thermal conductivity, flexibility, and ease of processing. As a soft material, PEDOT:PSS is an excellent choice for flexible and wearable thermoelectric devices. It can be fabricated into films, coatings, fibers, or composites, facilitating a wide range of applications. Recent advancements emphasize PEDOT:PSS's potential as a leading material among organic and polymeric compounds, particularly in wearable technology and sustainable energy applications. This review paper highlights recent developments and innovative strategies in PEDOT:PSS-based thermoelectric research.
