Highly efficient electrooxidation of biomass-based furfuryl alcohol to 6-hydroxy-2,3-dihydro-6H-pyrano-3-one over Zn–Al bimetallic oxides
Abstract
ZnO(x)/Al2O3 composites with a nanocrystalline-amorphous structure were synthesized via a co-precipitation strategy for the efficient electrooxidation of biomass-based furfuryl alcohol to high-value-added 6-hydroxy-2,3-dihydro-6H-pyrano-3-one. High selectivity (87.0%) and faradaic efficiency (79.7%) were achieved. The potential mechanism was proposed.
