(Phosphino)(stannyl)carbene

Abstract

The synthesis of a (phosphino)(stannyl)carbene is documented. The combination of phosphino and stannyl substituents imparts a highly ambiphilic nature to this carbene, enabling reactions with cyanide, isocyanide, and carbon monoxide. This leads to rare stannylketenimines and a stannylketene, demonstrating its potential as a synthon for unusual main group compounds.
