Resistive switching memories with enhanced durability enabled by mixed-dimensional perfluoroarene perovskite heterostructures

Mixed-dimensional heterostructures of 2D perfluoroarene perovskite phases are used in resistive switching memories based on perovskite solar cells, showing enhanced performance and stability, which highlights the perspective for self-powered memories.

Mixed ionic-electronic conduction in Ruddlesden–Popper and Dion–Jacobson layered hybrid perovskites with aromatic organic spacers

Mixed ionic-electronic conduction is revealed in Dion–Jacobson (DJ) and Ruddlesden–Popper phases based on aromatic spacer cations, with higher activation energies for ion migration and thermal stability for DJ systems, relevant to their application.

Unravelling the structural complexity and photophysical properties of adamantyl-based layered hybrid perovskites

Structural properties and photophysics of layered perovskites comprising adamantyl (A) cations in A2FAn−1PbnI3n+1 (n = 1–3, FA = formamidinium) composition are studied by a combination of theoretical and experimental techniques to unravel unique features.

Addition of adamantylammonium iodide to hole transport layers enables highly efficient and electroluminescent perovskite solar cells

Non-radiative recombination losses are reduced drastically by addition of adamantylammonium iodide (ADAHI) into the hole transporting layer (HTL) in a perovskite solar cell, resulting in high efficiency (∼22%), increased Voc up to 1245 mV, and enhanced electro-luminescence EQE to 2.5%.

About this collection

The Journal of Materials Chemistry annual lectureship, established in 2010, honours early-career scientists who have made a significant contribution to the field of materials chemistry.

We are pleased to award Dr Jovana Milić (University of Fribourg, Switzerland) with the 2023 Journal of Materials Chemistry Lectureship. To celebrate, we have collated some of her publications in Royal Society of Chemistry journals in this web collection.

Dr. Jovana V. Milić is an Assistant Professor and Smart Energy Materials Group Leader at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland since January 2021. She obtained her Ph.D. in the Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences of ETH Zurich in 2017. She then worked as a postdoctoral scientist in the Laboratory of Photonics and Interfaces at EPFL until taking on a Group Leader position at the Adolphe Merkle Institute in September 2020 as the Swiss National Science Foundation PRIMA Fellow. Her research is centered around developing (supra)molecular materials for energy conversion, with a particular focus on hybrid photovoltaics. This involves a multidisciplinary approach at the interface of chemistry, material science, and engineering. Her research activities have been recognized by numerous honors and awards, including the CAS Future Leader 2019, Green Talents Award in 2020, and Zeno Karl Schindler Prize in 2021 for research contributions to sustainable development. She has also been awarded ERC Starting Grant in 2023 for the development of smart and sustainable hybrid materials for opto(electro)ionics. In addition to research and international collaborations, she has been invested in science outreach, policy, and diplomacy as a member of the Global Young Academy, Swiss Young Academy, the European Young Chemists’ Network, and International Younger Chemists Network, connecting and supporting young scientists globally.
