A unified approach to mechanistic aspects of photochemical vapor generation
A general model of redox reactions for PVG is proposed, driven by reducing radicals (e(aq)−, H˙, R˙ and CO2˙−) arising from concurrent VUV photolysis of carboxylic acids to yield the nascent elemental species which are subsequently attacked by H˙, H3C˙, H+ and CO to yield volatile products.

About this collection
This is a collection of papers in celebration of Alfredo Sanz-Medel’s career in analytical atomic spectrometry. Alfredo’s work and impact in the community hardly need any introduction. He has been involved with JAAS in a number of ways (author, referee, Editorial and Advisory Board Member) since the journal launched in 1986 and he has contributed many articles to the Journal during his career. Guest Edited by José Manuel Costa-Fernandez and Ramon Barnes. New articles will be added to this collection as they are published.
