Ultra-stretchable, bio-inspired ionic skins that work stably in various harsh environments

Abstract

We report a bio-inspired ionic skin with high stretchability (>1700%), transparency (>80%) and sensitivity (2 kPa−1). It is promising for sensing applications because it works stably in various harsh environments, without dehydration at high temperature (80 °C), swelling or ion leakage in aqueous mediums, or freezing at low temperature (−40 °C).
