This study presents a photoredox-catalyzed and aminoborane-mediated halogen-atom transfer (XAT) approach for the activation of fluoroiodomethane, facilitating the generation of monofluoromethyl radicals.
NHC and photocatalysis dual-catalyzed mono/difluoromethylative acylation of 1,3-enynes was realized, providing fluormethyl-substituted allenyl ketones. SO2 might play a critical role in achieving high reactivity and selectivity.
We report a photo-redox catalyzed radical C–H monofluoromethylation of heterocycles, thus demonstrating this process and the importance of the monofluoromethyl unit in medicinal and drug discovery purposes.
