Matrix metalloproteinase profiling and their roles in disease

Dysregulation of MMPs and/or ADAMs occurs in DFUs, PUs, IPF, pterygium, and GBM. The batimastat affinity resin binds only to active MMPs/ADAMs, which are identified by proteomics. Selective inhibitors are used to determine the role of the MMP/ADAM.

Localized and regulated peptide pigment formation inside liquid droplets through confined enzymatic oxidation

We demonstrate multi-component liquid peptide droplets that upon enzymatic oxidation, give rise to the formation of soluble polyphenolic pigments as simple mimics of the biological pigment, melanin.

Building a stronger bioeconomy requires production capabilities that can be generated through microbial genetic engineering. Engineered microbes can be paired with engineered feedstocks and compatible deconstruction methods to improve production.

About this collection

David Lynn has helped nurture his students to make significant and insightful contributions to the fields of natural products and chemical communication, parasitic plant life strategies, signal transduction in cellular development and pathogenesis, and evolution of self-replicating and dynamic chemical networks. These papers from his network of colleagues and collaborators over the years illustrate and celebrate the diversity and creativity of David's scientific vision, pedagogical innovations, and public engagement.
