Design and synthesis of thiophene-based C2-symmetric chiral phosphoric acids on a decahydroquinoxaline scaffold for stereoselective transformations

In this study, the design and the synthesis of a thiophene-based phosphoric acid based on a chiral decahydroquinoxaline scaffold derived from enantiopure trans-1,2-diaminocyclohexane was reported.

A chiral multibrominated triangular macrocycle for modulating circularly polarized phosphorescence

This work developed a chiral triangular macrocycle and achieved tunable circularly polarized room-temperature phosphorescence (CP-RTP) from blue-green to deep-red through rigidification and intermolecular charge-transfer interactions.

mer-Ir(pmp)3 as a strongly photoreducing and stable Ir(C^C)3 photocatalyst for metallaphotoredox catalysis

Here we report a new homoleptic Ir(NHC) photocatalyst, mer-Ir(pmp)3 which is the first Ir(C^C)3 photocatalyst to operate effectively using excitation sources peaking in the visible (λexc = 427, 440 and 456 nm).

Double encapsulation of C60, [6]CPP and Li+@C60 inside a peropyrene-linked, CPP-based double nanohoop

Mass spectrometry evidence of elusive 1 : 2 complexes of peropyrene-linked double nanohoop with C60, [6]CPP and Li+@C60 indicates that packing, not intrinsic binding, limits host occupancy in these nanohoops in the solid state.

A polyaromatic dumbbell-based micelle capable of binding large dyes under organic solvent-rich conditions

A dumbbell-shaped amphiphile assembles into a spherical polyaromatic micelle in water. Binding of organic and metal–organic dyes by the micelle yields host–guest composites with very high stability against organic solvent addition (up to 75% v/v).

About this collection

This special themed collection in Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry and Organic Chemistry Frontiers, guest edited by Henning Jessen (Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg), Mihaiela Stuparu (Nanyang Technological University) and Eli Zysman-Colman (University of St. Andrews) is in celebration of the 65th birthdays of Professors Jay Siegel and Kim Baldridge. It covers the subjects Jay and Kim have been most fascinated as part of their research careers, including molecular design & synthesis, specializing in structural chemistry and stereochemistry of supramolecular architectures, the chemistry and properties of curved aromatics and their derivatives, studies into the origins of life, and studies probing physical organic chemistry concepts using synthesis, measurements, and calculations.
New articles will be added to the collection upon publication. Please return to this page frequently to see the collection grow.
