Plastic reusable pH indicator strips: preparation via anion-exchange of poly(ionic liquids) with anionic dyes

Plastic 1–14 pH indicator strips were prepared via cross-linking of an ionic liquid (IL) monomer, 1-butyl-3-vinylimidazolium bromide ([Bvim][Br]), with acrylonitrile, and followed by anion-exchange with anionic dyes. The resultant pH indicator strips exhibit enhanced pH-responsive colour changes and robust pH-response reversibility in both aqueous and organic solutions.

Effects of “mature micelle” formation of Pluronic P123 on equilibrium between lactone and carboxylate forms of 10-hydrocamptothecin in water

The equilibrium fraction of the active lactone form of the anti-tumor drug 10-hydrocamptothecin in water could be significantly enhanced after the co-assembly of the drug and polymer molecules into “mature micelles”.

About this collection

In September 2012 the 1stPolymer Chemistry International Symposium was held in China at Tsinghua University, Soochow University and Fudan University.

The purpose of the symposium was to bring together scientists in a stimulating and friendly environment that would foster collaborations between researchers and the universities involved in the meetings.

The symposium comprised of three one-day meetings held at each of the above institutions, and featured talks by international speakers from the Polymer Chemistry Editorial Board and local speakers.

In this web collection we highlight a selection of articles from the speakers to make the ideas of the symposium available to a broader audience.
