Unraveling the origin of the cooperative adsorption of carbon monoxide in an Fe(II) metal–organic framework

Using periodic DFT calculations, we unveil the mechanism of cooperative CO adsorption in an Fe(II) bistriazolate MOF, where both structural distortion and electronic effects are found to play an active role.

Rational optimization of siRNA to ensure strand bias in the interaction with the RNA-induced silencing complex

A new class of 5′-morpholino modified nucleoside building blocks was synthesized. Among them, Mo2 exhibited better off-target mitigation for RNAi compared to other analogues Pip and Mo3 and the previously reported morpholino derivative Mo1.

Visualization of domain structure and piezoelectric energy harvesting in a ferroelectric metal–ligand cage

A metal–organic cage exhibits ferro- and piezoelectric properties as visualized by its domain structure using PFM and utility in piezoelectric energy harvesting properties. This is a rare observation in supramolecular metal–organic cages.

Comparing the reactivity of an oxoiron(IV) cation radical and its oxoiron(V) tautomer towards C–H bonds

An oxoiron(IV) cation radical is generated upon two-electron oxidation of an iron(III) complex bearing an electron-rich methoxy substituted bTAML framework and characterized via multiple spectroscopic techniques and density functional theory (DFT).

Temperature driven charge transfer process in quantum confined two-dimensional Mn-doped CsPbBr3 perovskite nanoplatelets

Understanding of the energy/charge transfer processes in Mn–CsPbBr3 NPLs is achieved using temperature-dependent femtosecond TA spectroscopy. Charge transfer process which is efficient at 300 K is seen to be inhibited at 5 K.

Pd(II)-catalyzed annulation of terminal alkynes with 2-pyridinyl-substituted p-quinone methides: direct access to indolizines

A Pd-catalysed 100% atom-economical method has been developed for the synthesis of 1,3-disubstituted indolizine derivatives in good yields through a regiospecific formal [3 + 2]-annulation from 2-pyridinyl-substituted p-quinone methides and terminal alkynes.
