For all the catalysts discussed here, their reaction efficiencies can still be further improved. Well-defined complexes as catalysts are always of interest from the mechanistic understanding point of view. In the future, hazardous reagents should be avoided as much as possible and ‘green’ solvents should be considered instead of classical solvents during the design of synthetic methodology. Concerning the concepts of ‘atom efficiency’ and ‘bond-forming economics,’ the reagents applied must be used to the maximum efficiency with respect to the bonds formed.
