Chemical Properties of Mercury

A thorough treatment is given of the chemistry of mercury(I) and -(II) halides, pseudohalides, oxides and other inorganic compounds. Solubility, kinetics of reaction, disproportionation and other reactions are discussed. Syntheses of several simple compounds are reported. Physical and chemical properties of halides and pseudohalides are tabulated. Organic and organometallic mercury chemistry is briefly discussed. Common synthesis pathways and basic properties of organic mercury compounds are outlined.
