Reconfigurable Double Input–Single Output Systems

Chemical diversity allows the reconfiguring of molecular logic gates of the double input-single output type particularly strongly. The ways in which single input-single output logic gates can be reconfigured (Chapter 6) are expanded considerably. For instance, the input pair allows arrangement of the functional groups in various ways in three-dimensional space. Being relatively complex when compared to the single input type, the device itself can be constituted in different ways by assembling components. Using different starting states, a given device can produce different logic behaviours. The nature of the output, within a given observation technique, is also another way of reconfiguring the logic type. Some cases where the applied voltage serves as a reconfiguring variable are also included.
