Conclusions and Criticisms

Nucleic acids are undoubtedly excellent molecules for the development of smart and innovative biosensors for environmental monitoring as summarized in this book. There are, however, some issues that should be considered when nucleic acid biosensors are viewed in the context of environmental monitoring requirements. The more important of these are briefly highlighted in this chapter.
