Chapter 3

Multisensory Learning

This chapter focuses on multisensory learning as a mechanism for teaching with creativity using specific examples and case studies. These include strategies designed to help students visualise and think creatively about the sub-microscopic world and interactions between atoms and molecules. Olfactory, gustatory and haptic learning is explored as mechanisms to provide students with memorable and engaging novel experiences. Examples explained include garlic titrations, edible experiments and the use of sign language to develop understanding of chemical terminology.
