Biobased Polyurethane Nanocomposites

A general overview on polyurethane (PU) nanocomposites is presented in this chapter. It contains a brief report on such nanocomposites with special emphasis on biobased raw materials and hyperbranched architectures. The role of the nanomaterials in the improvement of the properties of such systems is discussed in this chapter. Moreover, methods of fabrication of PU nanocomposites and their characterization are briefly described herein. Various properties, such as mechanical, thermal, electrical, as well as smart properties like shape memory, self-healing, self-cleaning, etc. and the biodegradability of such nanocomposites are also discussed. This chapter further highlights the applications of PU nanocomposites in different advanced fields. A series of conclusions and future trends of such advanced materials are mentioned at the end of this chapter.
